“Moscow Doesn’t Believe in Tears” premiered on February 11, 1980. It went on to win an Oscar in 1980 and became one of the most popular Soviet films to this day.
For #SovietFilmWednesday on Twitter - one of my secret favourites - “Autumn” (1974). It’s a rather unknown, very beautifully shot, bittersweet, sensual film. And sad, eternally sad in a very Russian way. Brilliant score by Alfred Schnittke!
