This blog is about old postcards, book illustration and all kinds of paper whimsy from the Soviet Union. I'm a long time collector, and this blog is 7 years old. I have an etsy shop for cards, books, pins and vintage finds from Russia.
All of the pins I got! 75 in total. They’re all sooo pretty. 😍 Drop by the from time to time to see what’s new!
I drove up to Nizhny Novgorod yesterday to visit the Sunday flea market and have a bit of a big city chill (eat out in hipster places, buy small run local-made shirts and ogle art nouveau architecture).
Box elder tree is commonly called American maple in Russia! I’ve only just now learned that its actual name is ash-leaved maple when I looked up its English name on Wikipedia.
This photo speaks to me. I had a short period in my life when I woke up at 4, got a bunch of newspapers fresh off the print and walked around the designated area to put them up in the reading stands.
This little rainbow pin is the most popular pin in my shop. I never got as many requests for any other item as I have for this pin. Unfortunately, the thing about vintage things is that their number is finite.
I have two of these pins now, ready to ship. I also have a number of requests that is over two.
I’ve exhausted all my resources and I don’t know where to find any more of them. I will eventually (I hope!), but I don’t know when and where the chance strikes.
So because demand is greater than supply (and also because I’m broke after my European escapades) I decided to put them up on eBay for auction!
If you want to have this lovely original 1975 Soviet enamel pin with a space rainbow - bid here!!! :)
(The first pin is up for 7 days, when it ends I’ll put the second one up.)
