This blog is about old postcards, book illustration and all kinds of paper whimsy from the Soviet Union. I'm a long time collector, and this blog is 7 years old. I have an etsy shop for cards, books, pins and vintage finds from Russia.
As I sorted some old books out the other day, I found a folder full of old pictures and documents. Some of them were really interesting. This is my grandfather on father’s side and letters he received from military archives (and also a handwritten letter he wrote to one of them). His brother Leonid, 14 years older than him, went missing in the war in 1943 and there’s no information about what happened to him. Grandfather tried to find out anything, at least a place where he was buried. Unfortunately, even to this day, there’s nothing.
Here’s my friend Olya. She’s wearing a WWII outfit and she was in one of the historical trucks in the parade. I think I want to do that too next year. I’m coming to terms with the idea of wearing war uniform (but it still terrifies me.)
